In today's world, where energy resources are rapidly depleting and the globe is fighting the climate crisis, investments in energy efficiency are becoming more critical than ever.
Pointing out that approximately 40% of the imported natural gas and oil in our country is burned by burners, H. Ahmet İlhan, Chairman of the Board of Gökçe Brülör, stated that savings of up to 20% and a 90% reduction in harmful emissions could be achieved through the modernization of old burner systems used in industry.
İlhan also noted that thanks to state incentives, up to 30% to 40% of investment costs could be covered under government grants.
While June 5th World Environment Day once again brings the importance of energy efficiency and sustainable production technologies in industry to the forefront, the modernization of energy-intensive systems stands out as a critical topic. In this context, the renewal of boiler and burner systems, which are widely used especially in industrial facilities, is of great importance both for reducing environmental impacts and lowering operating costs.
Making evaluations on the subject, Gökçe Brülör Chairman of the Board H. Ahmet İlhan drew attention to the energy burden that old burner systems impose on the industry:
“40% of imported natural gas and oil is burned by burners”
“While global energy demand has increased by more than 50% over the last 20 years, industrial production continues to be one of the most significant components of energy consumption. Experts point out that if the current consumption rate continues, global oil reserves could be depleted within approximately 45-50 years, and natural gas reserves within 50-60 years. Rising energy costs and global pressures for the sustainable use of resources make investments in energy-efficient technologies, particularly in industry, even more essential. At this point, modernizing existing systems plays a critical role in both reducing operating costs and utilizing energy resources more efficiently.”
“Burner systems are also among the most important technologies that increase energy efficiency in industry. This is because approximately 40% of the imported natural gas and oil in our country is burned by burners. About half of this fuel is used in the manufacturing industry, while the other half is used for heating purposes.”
Reduces harmful emissions by 90%
“Old systems used in industry place a serious cost burden on businesses. In particular, replacing old and inefficient systems with modern burner technologies provides businesses with savings of up to 20% and a 90% reduction in harmful emissions. Furthermore, these systems pay for themselves within 3 to 8 months, offering long-term cost advantages to enterprises.”
Grant support of approximately 30% to 40% of the investment cost is provided
Touching upon the financial advantages provided by the Efficiency Enhancing Project (VAP) Support Program carried out by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, İlhan said:
“The program creates an important resource for energy efficiency investments by encouraging the modernization of existing and inefficient systems with high-efficiency technologies. In this context, non-refundable grant support of approximately 30% to 40% of the investment cost is provided to eligible projects. These supports facilitate businesses' transition to modern burner systems while shortening the investment return period.”
