Geopolitical Risks Increase the Importance of Dual-Fuel Systems in Industry

Global geopolitical risks are making energy supply security and costs one of the top priorities for industry. The 102.4% increase in natural gas prices in Turkey between May 2025 and May 2026 also underscores the importance of alternative solutions to support energy supply security in industry.

Stating that “an interruption in energy supply can lead to chain reaction effects in many areas from production to employment,” H. Ahmet İlhan, Chairman of the Board of Gökçe Brülör, emphasized that industrial production should not be left dependent on a single fuel, highlighting that dual-fuel burners provide a crucial safeguard against potential supply disruptions.

Global geopolitical developments, particularly the Russia-Ukraine war and the US/Israel-Iran conflict, make energy supply security a strategic issue for industry. Disruptions in energy supply and price fluctuations resulting from these global developments threaten the production costs and competitiveness of industry. Data from the European Statistical Office (Eurostat), showing a 102.4% rise in natural gas prices in Turkey from May 2025 to May 2026, reveals the scale of the increase in energy costs. Alongside price hikes, uncertainties regarding supply security make diversifying energy sources and utilizing systems capable of operating with different fuels essential for industrial plants.

Dual-fuel burners, which are among the systems capable of operating with different fuels, support the continuity of production by enabling a transition to alternative fuels such as diesel or fuel oil in case of a natural gas supply disruption.

Production should not be dependent on a single fuel

Stating that energy supply security must now be addressed as a strategic issue, H. Ahmet İlhan, Chairman of the Board of Gökçe Brülör, said:

“Energy costs still pose a very serious threat in terms of inflation, macroeconomic balances, and the competitiveness of our industry. An interruption in energy supply can lead to chain reaction effects in many areas from production to employment. Therefore, it is necessary to develop structural solutions that will safeguard today and the future.”

“Using dual-fuel burner systems in industrial plants offers a significant safeguard against fluctuations in energy supply. These systems, which can operate with diesel or fuel oil, prevent production from coming to a complete standstill during natural gas outages, giving facilities operational flexibility. Diesel and fuel oil are not permanent alternatives to natural gas; however, they play a critical role as solutions that keep production afloat and manage chaos during crises. For this reason, dual-fuel burner systems are not a luxury; they are the insurance of energy supply security for industry.”
